AboutMost people just call me Hill-- HI there!
Art has always interested me, ever since I can remember. In my youth, I'd spend hours at the library on Saturday afternoons exploring the fine arts section, discovering and studying artists and art movements. What interests me most about art is both the story behind the artwork and how the life of the artist influenced the art—- the joys, the struggles, and all that messy life stuff in between. I think that's why I'm drawn to portraiture. I enjoy getting to know the people that I'm painting and learning about their lives and sharing a bond with them. The human connection is such a delicate feeling that's strengthened with love, admiration, and empathy. I try to bring all of that into the painting. I especially enjoy painting musicians because their music has an incredible ability to bridge a deep connection with so many of us. There within that human connection lies peace. I also find great peace in cloud watching. Clouds have a magic to them by forming and morphing into infinite combinations of shapes and colors. When I look up, I take comfort in knowing that there is so much possibility in the unknown. I feel most grounded and humbled just by looking up. Thanks for reading and checking out my work!
