Hello!

A little about me...

Picture
Art has always interested me - in my youth, I earned scholarships so I could extend my art education at the local art college by taking several years of Saturday classes. After class, I enjoyed spending hours at the library combing through the fine arts section, discovering and studying artists and art movements. I learned what intrigues me most about art is the story behind the artwork and how the life of the artist influenced the art. I went on to further my studies at the very same college and graduated with a BFA. In the decade after graduating, I explored other fields including screen printing and sewing before circling back to painting. Currently, my focus is on portraiture. Whether it's a commissioned portrait of a loved one or a public figure, I appreciate learning about the people that I'm painting and the stories they have to tell.

When I'm not painting, I enjoy cloud watching.
Clouds have a magic to them by forming and morphing into infinite combinations of shapes and colors. They remind me about the concept of impermanence - that everything around us is constantly changing. When I look up to the skies, I take comfort in knowing that there is so much possibility in the unknown. This philosophy grounds me and brings me peace.

Thanks for reading and checking out my work!
Cheers,
Hill
